In 2003 citizens of Orange County, Florida, met with Mayor Rich Crotty asking that he show support for families by proclaiming a Week of the Family in the County.
Not only did Mayor Crotty lead the Orange County Commission in declaring a Week of the Family, but he also provided staff members and other County resources to ensure that the Week was successful.
The Week of the Family Celebration has expanded to include support by a roundtable of government and civic leaders working together to educate, celebrate, and strengthen families. Today several other counties and cities have followed Mayor Crotty’s lead and joined with Orange County in sponsoring their own family weeks.
We are grateful to Mayor Crotty for his leadership and vision. He has made Week of the Family grow, here in Orange County and elsewhere. He has blessed families throughout Central Florida. |
